Host Family Checklist:
Host families must have an interest in spending time on the weekend with the exchange student and be able to take them to local destinations and shopping
A bedroom needs to be available with a bed for the exchange student (temporary bed in living room/family room is not acceptable). Shared room is okay as long as same gender, similar age, and each person has a bed. A temporary bed in a shared room is acceptable.
Bathroom can be shared.
Family is able to drop off and pick up the exchange student for their scheduled activities (or make arrangements with other hosting families to carpool). The drop off and pick up location is usually at the Triton Museum on Warburton Ave, or other local Santa Clara destinations.
Some meals need to be provided by the family (mostly breakfasts and dinners). These will be called out in the final itinerary.
Any pets must be friendly in nature.
A home visit of approximately 30 minutes will be scheduled upon the submission of the hosting form and signature page. The home visit is an orientation meeting for new host families to go over questions, procedures, and to help set expectations.
Adults living at the home must get fingerprinted and authorize a background check (details will be provided).
Host families will receive a small stipend to help cover the cost of fingerprinting and sightseeing with the student.
