The mission of the organization is to bring different cultures together through
people to people relationships. Our objectives are to enrich the lives of our
students through cultural exchanges to build strong leadership skills and to
enhance goodwill and global understanding.
SCSCA has two Sister Cities: Coimbra, Portugal, established August 4, 1972 and
Izumo, Japan, established October 11, 1986. We have high school student exchange
programs, a junior high exchange program with Izumo, Japan, music and art
exchange programs. We involve student leaders through our Youth Commission that
works under the SCA Board of Directors.
SCSCA is a 501 (c) 3 tax exempt ID # 94-6006426 non profit. We are a volunteer
based organization with a Board of Directors who are elected on a yearly basis.
We have no paid staff. All donations and fundraiser monies go directly to our
exchange programs.

When a community bonds together in any group, the power of the human mind is
unsurpassable. Together, people of all ages can reach out and accomplish the
unthinkable, such as peace on earth. The reason why we suffer the consequences
of hate, terrorism, and war is because of a deficiency in the deep understanding
and acceptance of the differences in the cultures across the world. Through the
hard work of a determined Board of Directors and the support from City Hall and
the International Exchange Commission, Santa Clara Sister Cities Association
pierces through the crust of hate and helps the world advance towards peace, one
relationship at a time.

In order to finance these exchange programs and other culturally educational
events and opportunities offered to High School students, the Santa Clara Sister
Cities Association is fundraising all year long. Events such as the Annual
Chicken BBQ, Street Dance, Tea Party, and SCAYC Garage Sale are just some of the
many opportunities for not only students, but the community as well to get
involved. SCSCA welcomes long time supporters and newcomers interested
in meeting and working with friendly people dedicated to building relationships
that extend from the local community to other parts of the world.
